Division of Student Affairs Conference and Awards Ceremony

On Thursday, May 31, more than a dozen people were honored during the Division of Student Affairs Awards Ceremony.

Conference keynote speaker Patricia (Patty) A. Perillo, Ph.D., vice president for student affairs at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, shared lessons he learned from her career in student affairs. The awards ceremony capped the second annual conference. This year’s theme was “Together We Transform.”

The conference featured a welcome by Charles Klink, Ph.D., senior vice provost for student affairs. Conference presentations were submitted by members of the Division of Student Affairs, as well as other departments and units from VCU and the conference committee selected eight presentations.

The 2018 Division of Student Affairs Award winners included: 

  • Ram Spirit Award: Carolyn Kirkbride, University Student Health Services; Ra’meer Roberts, Central Administration

  • Innovation Award: Megan Rapchick, Student Conduct and Academic Integrity; Emily Tompkins, The Wellness Resource Center

  • Campus Partner Award: University of Richmond Recreation & Wellness

  • Outstanding Program Award: The Testing Access Center, Student Accessibility and Educational Opportunity

  • Commitment to Developing Others: Rebecca Halligan, VCU LEAD

  • Service to Diversity Award: Jo Ellyn Walker, University Counseling Services

  • Professional Contribution Award: Kevin Baker, Residential Life and Housing

  • Demonstrating Quality Service Award: Latiesa Barrier, Residential Life and Housing

  • Outstanding New Employee Award: Rocky Carmine, Student Conduct and Academic Integrity; Sam Albert, Recreational Sports

  • Dedicated Service Award: Kendall Plageman, Dean of Students Office

  • Distinguished Service to the Division of Student Affairs: Linda Hancock, The Wellness Resource Center
