The DSA Recognition Awards highlight the great work of individuals throughout all areas and levels in the Division of Students Affairs at VCU. In keeping with the Core Values of VCU and Quest 2025: Together we Transform, the Division seeks to recognize full and part-time members (non-student) of our many departments no matter what level or position. We hope that many of you will seek to uplift your colleagues throughout the Division by nominating them.
We will recognize all nominees as well as those selected for the awards at a virtual celebration event on a date to be determined soon - most likely in June 2020.

Nominations for the 2020 Awards are open from Friday, February 28th - Friday, May 1st (this is an update!)

All nominations will be reviewed by the director of the Nominee's department and the awards committees. The Awards Committees will make recommendations to the DSA Operations Team for final approval.
This award recognizes an individual, group or organization outside of the Division of Student Affairs that has partnered with the DSA or one of its departments in a significant manner. The campus partner shares our values of community, diversity, integrity, student success, and wellness through programs or services shared with the Division. We seek to recognize those individuals, groups or organizations which, through their collaboration with the Division, have enhanced the student experience at VCU.

This award recognizes an individual who actively mentors students, colleagues and other members of the VCU community. This award acknowledges the time, sacrifice and dedication Student Affairs members devote to students or fellow professionals fostering the personal, academic, or career development of students and colleagues. These awards allow the Division of Student Affairs to honor and celebrate the valuable efforts of our colleagues who embody the spirit of mentoring.

This award recognizes an individual who goes above and beyond in their demonstration and delivery of exceptional quality service to all of their “customers” (students, colleagues, visitors, etc.). This individual is truly “Creating Community” in every interaction, decision, and action they make.

This award recognizes the DSA clinician or service provider who provides outstanding and empathetic health care through their role. Nominees for this award practice person-centered caring and serve as a positive role model for their colleagues in the clinical setting.

This award recognizes an individual or team who exhibits excellence in facility operations and/or maintenance. Through their work, this individual or team has demonstrated a commitment to quality by ensuring that our facilities are welcoming, clean, safe, presentable, and well-maintained. Nominees for this award could have responsibilities in the following areas : custodial, maintenance, project development and/or management, risk management, and customer service. Individuals that are contracted by the University are not eligible to receive this award.

This award recognizes an individual or program that demonstrates creativity, leadership, and innovation while embodying the values of the Division (exemplifying community, diversity, integrity, student success, and wellness) to enhance the student experience at VCU. Individuals and programs should demonstrate initiating new aspects to an existing program, and/or new creative ways to utilize department/division resources, and/or bring change to the campus environment.

This award recognizes an individual who best exemplifies what it means to be a “Ram” and embraces the spirit of the University. This individual has demonstrated this through their work to help students create a community on campus, university loyalty, teamwork in their department and the Division of Student Affairs. This individual lives out the mission of the University in all aspects of their work and is an example to others of what it means to take pride in VCU.

This award recognizes an individual who demonstrates a commitment to the promotion and celebration of diversity here at VCU. This individual embraces the Division’s mission to develop students to be “thoughtfully engaged contributors to the global community.” This commitment should be demonstrated through work that provides educational opportunities to students and staff about topics of diversity including but not limited to race, ethnicity, culture, sexual/gender orientation, ability, age, religion, and socioeconomic status.
