Reuban Rodriguez, Ed.D.

Associate Vice Provost for Student Affairs and Dean of Students

Dr. Rodriguez and the Dean of Students office is a resource for all undergraduate, graduate, and professional students on the Monroe Park Campus, the MCV Campus, the INOVA Campus, and the VCU Qatar Campus. He is frequently walking around campus, meeting with student leaders, and attending student events. As Associate Vice Provost and Dean of Student Affairs, he is actively involved in various aspects of student life including:

  • Understanding student needs;

  • Improving their quality of life;

  • Supporting student success, both academically and in the community;

  • Promoting leadership development; and,

  • Ensuring immediate and accurate dissemination of information to students.

Dr. Rodriguez also represents student concerns when interacting with VCU faculty, staff, administrators, alumni, and community members. He is a member of the President's Senior Staff Leadership Team, and serves as a resource to the University Council and the VCU Board of Visitors. Through coordination and cooperation with the University, the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs and the Division of Student Affairs, his office and staff provide programs and services, assist students in resolving problems, and advocates for students, when appropriate. He also serves as an advisor for the Emerging Leaders Program and the VCU Circle of Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Society.

Dr. Rodriguez is a nationally-known expert and consultant on student affairs issues, including but not limited to Title IX, student government associations, and dean of students offices. He has served as the Virginia Association of Student Personnel Association (VASPA) President and has served on the editorial board of NASPA's Journal of Student Affairs Research and Practice since 2001.
